About MASS

The McGill African Students Society (MASS) is a full status club whose mandate is to promote and present the diverse and rich African cultures to the McGill community and the greater Montreal area. We host a diverse range of events each semester in hopes to provide an environment where all students can feel at home, meet like-minded people, and learn about our culture.

Here are our main events!

General Meeting

The GM is an introductory event and it is held twice a year at the beginning of each semester. During the GM, the the executive members introduce themselves, give a rundown of the upcoming activities and students get to ask them questions! There are games, music, special surprises and most importantly free food!!

MASS Parties

MASS Parties usually take place once a semester and they serve as fundraisers for the smaller events we host during the semester. You can expect non-stop Afro-music, rhythm, great vibes and all around enjoyment! A MUST COME, you do not want to miss this event!! Stay tuned on all of our socials so you never miss any updates.

Africa Speaks Conference

The Africa Speaks Conference (ASC) is the yearly educational conference organized by MASS for Africans within and outside the McGill community. Every year, we explore a new topic both academically and non-academically, that pertains to Africans on the continent and within the diaspora. If you'd like to participate in organizing the conference, join the ASC organizing committee!

The Annual Gala

The Gala is the last and biggest event of the year. This ambitious event combines a banquet, a talent show and a fashion show to honor Africa's diversity of cultures. Come feast on delicious food while enjoying dance, music, poetry and much more! And of course, don't forget about the afterparty... One thing though, the tickets sell out quickly, so you better get your early bird tickets ASAP!

Potlucks

We host a potluck at least every semester. Our most popular is the Thanksgiving potluck. If you do not have anything planned for thanksgiving, you do not have to spend it alone! MASS hosts this event to bring people together and provide a home away from home environment.
